As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen communication and visibility of the Programme for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in the Southwest Region of Cameroon (PSMNR-SWR) and its intervening protected areas in the southwest region of Cameroon, PSMNR-SWR organized a training on digital storytelling and website skill.
For years, the incredible conservation efforts happening in and around the protected areas in southwest Cameroon went unnoticed. The websites were often quiet, making it impossible for the world to see the happenings on the ground and to understand why protecting these landscapes matter. To change this, a three-day training was organized by PSMNR-SWR in Nkongsamba from the 6th – 9th April 2026, to train PSMNR-SWR and park staff of Korup National Park, Mount Cameroon National Park, Takamanda National Park, Bakossi National Park and Banyang Mbo Wildlife Sanctuary on website management and content creation.

The training which was based on a learning-by-doing approach brought together 11 participants from 05 protected areas and 03 regional staff. Participants learnt how to navigate the website, reviewed and updated previous website content, write and add stories and edited photos. Because of this training, everything is about to change. We will see more frequent website updates, clearer stories and an overall stronger digital presence for PSMNR-SWR and its PAs. The PAs who are the real winners here would finally get global visibility, stronger partnerships and thus a better protection for the forest and animals that call it home.
